Is it best to take the batting out of the package to let it breathe? If so, how long do I need to do this?
The simplest way to handle batting is let it lie flat overnight. This not only gives it time to "breathe" but it helps to relax those pesky folds and wrinkles.
Depending on the fiber content of your batting, you could toss it in the dryer for a few minutes. (Check the manufacturer's instructions). Use a no-heat setting. This has worked well for me in the past. You can iron some battings, but again, check the instructions on the bag to be sure.
