Synthropol in Top Loaders
by: Maria Goetz

Just got off the phone with manufacturer, inquiring for instructions in top loading washing machines. Technical support advises not to use in top loaders as this product suds too much and may damage the machine. Also, they recommend not to use the sister product, Retayne, in front loaders as you cannot follow the directions on the bottle.

Red Dye Running
by: Queenie

One product for anyone to use is a prewash called Synthrapol manufactured by G&K craft Industries, LTD. Your local quilt shop could order this for you or you can order online. I have a 16 ounce bottle that I have used for about two-three years.

It takes so little. I even use it on embroidery thread that is black red, dark blue or green, even though they might advertise as color fast. I recently had an unusual dark red fabric that I prewashed in a basin alone three times before it came out clear. Had it not come out clear in that time that piece of fabric goes in a rag bag.

Most of the time when I come home with a number of fabrics they immediately go into the washing machine with one tablespoon of Synthrapol and they come out beautifully.

Yours for prewashing ALL of the time.
