Cutting Sashing

Do you cut sashing lengthwise or crosswise or does it matter?

ANSWER

It's best to cut your strips on the lengthwise grain. The lengthwise grain, also known as warp or straight of grain, is stronger than the crosswise grain. It has the least amount of stretch or "give."

We want our border and sashing strips to lie flat, with no wavy edges. The strength and stability of the lengthwise grain makes this possible.
