Disappearing Ink Marker

by Caryl
(Independence, MO)

I used a disappearing ink marker to mark my quilting pattern on my quilt top. After quilting, I sprayed the quilt top with water. Some of the quilt markings keep re-appearing after the fabric dries. What can I do to make these markings disappear once and for all?

Also, I prewashed my fabric, but on some of the squares, the color is bleeding through to the backing fabric. Is there anything I can do about that now? This quilt is a gift and I am embarrassed to give it to them like this. Thank you for your help!

ANSWER

You can remove the disappearing ink and the bleeding dyes in the same step. Please read my "removing fabric dyes" article. It tells you which products work best in your situation. Thanks for your question.
