Fussy Cutting

by Mimi Beth

Please tell me what in Heaven "Fussy Cutting" is? I would appreciate it so very much.

ANSWER

Fussy cutting means you select and cut out a specific design on your fabric. Let's say you have a wonderful floral print. One particular flower stands out on the print. You decide you want to use that flower in the center of your blocks.

Instead of randomly cutting your fabric, you place a template over the selected flower. Next, you center the flower in the middle of the template. Finally, you cut around the template.

Here's a fussing cutting demonstration. Have fun!
