Hand Quilting

I love to hand quilt. But, I hate to piece together the material (whether by machine or hand) to get to the point where I can hand quilt. Can I get material that is already put together? Or something!!?

ANSWER

Sounds like you love hand quilting! Have you ever heard of a
whole cloth quilt? As the name implies, it's a quilt made from one large piece of fabric (no piecing at all).

I liken it to a painter's blank canvas. You're free to embellish it with any quilting design you desire. This is definitely a hand or machine quilter's playground!

A good number of quilters choose white fabric, because it showcases their quilting designs. But, I've seen them done in other colors as well. You can find many fun quilting designs for whole cloth quilts. Or, make up one of your own!

You might also consider whole cloth fabrics that look like a pieced or appliquéd quilt top. These are often referred to as "cheater quilts" because you don't actually sew the quilt yourself. But, don't let deter you. If you're only interested in hand quilting, it's ready to go.

Finally, there are pre-printed fabric panels. These are good for smaller projects like pillows or wall hangings. Just cut out the panel and start your hand quilting!
