Kids Quilt

So, the instructor cuts 2.5 " fabric squares and the kid choose 16 of them and arrange them in any order to make a design?

What I've done is given students fabric squares to arrange. Each student creates a 10" square from 2.5" squares. So they choose 16 pre-cut squares and arrange it in any pattern they like.

I've done this with just squares of brightly colored fabric and I've done it with half-square triangles. Both turned out fantastic. You choose a fabric for sashing in between the squares, have them sign one of their squares, and you're all set!
