My First 2 Quilts Ever!

My First 2 Quilts Ever!

My First 2 Quilts Ever!

I started with the idea of making a quilt as soon as I heard I was going to be an aunt again. Which made me happy immediately. So, browsing the web I found your site and I love it. It's very clear and specific and all instructions are really useful.

I'm not much of a sampler person, so I decided to get right to it. Of course, I picked the easiest possible design (the 4 squares) and off I go. First, I got the idea of making it reversible, one set of colors on each side. So I made both tops and when I tried to make them fit it was impossible.

I realize then, why I have never seen a two sided quilt before. There's no way this was going to work. So backing up I end up making two of them separately. The result, I must say, for me was splendid.

I know that it has some defects. But I realize nobody was going to look at that. I already showed them off to my mom, grandma, and the husband and they love it!! Of course I still have it hidden from my brother and sister-in-law. I intend to give it to them on the first baby shower.

Anyways, I'm really grateful for all the work and hours of dedication you put on this site. It really helped me out, ending up with a great result. I never got frustrated. That really was a breeze.

So, hugs and kisses for you and your effort. I love that you decided to pass on your knowledge. Here I put two pictures of the final product. Thanks again.

Thank you guys!

Thanks to Gloria and Shawna for the comments, it's really encouraging!. I will check those links on reversible quilts. I love the idea of having two quilts in one.

For the color combination, I took your advice and walked around the store with the rolls of fabric (not an easy task I must say) and it worked fantastic! And my background as a photographer really helped me out on this one. I recommend learning a little bit about color psychology and color combination; it really helps. Thanks again.

Gorgeous quilts!

I love the colors you chose and the simple design works beautifully with those colors. I never thought about a reversible quilt before, but I will have to check out how to do that. What a great idea.

If you are like me, I was already planning my next project before I finished my first one. Have fun and keep quilting... :)

Your quilts are super beautiful! They look professionally made. Your color selection is fabulous. When I first saw your photo all I could say was "Wow!" Your brother and sister-in-law are going to cherish them forever.

You were on the right track when you started to make a reversible quilt. It's actually possible to do this. Here's a few links to sites that offer reversible quilt books and patterns.
