My First Quilt

For twenty-five years (or more) I never laid a hand on a sewing machine. Frankly, did not own one even though I grew up making my own clothes. My sister-in-law is a serious quilter and I admired her work but was not interested in learning more about it.
Last November during a quick visit we began talking about making "things" like wallets, bags and ultimately quilts. I asked about "how" one would make a t-shirt quilt since I have tons of t-shirts, most having sentimental value. One thing led to another and before you know it I signed up for a "beginning" quilt class upon returning home.
I was intimidated by the class as I was the only one in that class that had absolutely zero experience and knowledge. I didn't know the lingo and was relying on my clothing construction days. Luckily, the instructor was very patient and took care in explaining the techniques and the process. I have attached the picture of my very first attempt at quilting.
I just finished my 4th project -- all very simple designs and small projects but my sister-in-law assures me that I have caught "quilt-pox" and I can't say I disagree. I invested in a new sewing machine; I have woken up in the middle of the night with an idea for quilt and I have signed up for my second "beginner" quilt class so I can acquire enough skill to broaden my horizons.
