"My Stars"

by Karen
(Dickson, TN)

I have always loved to sew but had never attempted a quilt. I had this design in my head for a while but not till last week did I put it down on paper and then in cloth.

I fumbled around with my design for a day, thought I was done with it, then got up the next morning and changed it all around. Making the pattern pieces took me another day and then cutting practice pieces just to make sure it would work.

It's a good thing I did those practice pieces though, 'cause they didn't go together in any recognizable pattern. Looking back on it now, I laugh at myself. If only I had found this site before I started.

After fussing around with the pieces, I finally figured out the problem. Cutting out the remainder of the pieces, I finally got started assembling all the pieces (my husband thought I was nuts!) Two days later, my quilt was done.

I may not have followed all the rules in making my quilt but "My Stars" will always have a special place in my home. I'm already working on the next!

Wow, Karen. If you're a beginner quilter, I can't wait to see what you'll create with some experience under your belt! You did a beautiful job.

Don't forget to sew a label on the back. You want everyone to know who made this gorgeous quilt!
