Photo quilts
by: Linda

I have alot of experience with transferring photos to my quilts. So a few tips from learning the hard way are as follows:

Always heat set the photo after the transfer to your fabric.

Allow the heat set photo to remain untouched, in essence to dry completely, for at least an hour.

It is best to frame your photos within your quilt application. The less stress on the photo square(i.e. stitches)the stronger the square will be. Handle them with care as best you can. They seem heavier, but the ink is delicate.

I have photo quilts out there that are over ten years old. Two out of the four oldest quilt photo's have started to show signs of wear via photo clarity due to washing/drying. Always provide care instructions. Wash quilts on delicate, cold water only, lay flat to dry.

Never placing one of your photo quilts in hot water or the dryer will insure pictures will remain crisp and clear for a very long time!

This is a fabulous way to create a quilt that will be passed on from generation to generation.

Printing Color Photographs
by: Anonymous

I found that I had to go into advanced - in your printer set up under properties and select the highest quality for all your colors, otherwise some of my prints very not very bright and didn't retain their colors, as good as the ones I had selected the highest quality.

Best of Luck with your project.
