Pressing Seams

I am a beginner and am working on the 3'rd block of the sampler (the 4 patch block). I'm confused about pressing the seam on this block.

The first two blocks you advised pressing the seam towards the dark panel. On this one, you say to press the seam "up". How do I determine which way is up? Thank you in advance for your answer. I'm really enjoying this project!!

Pressing the seam on this block is different, because you're pressing toward both light and dark fabrics. But we must press the seam nonetheless.

First, position your block as shown, with wrong side facing up. Now, press your seam in the direction of the arrow. Thanks for your question.
