Quilt Batting for Hot Weather?

by Mindy
(Jamestown, NY)

I am going to make a lap quilt for my daughter who lives in southern Arizona. How do I make this quilt so it will not be too warm to use?

ANSWER

Mindy, you'll want to use a thin, 100% cotton batting. Cotton fibers breathe, which means you'll stay cooler. Stay away from polyester. It holds in heat and keeps you warmer.
