Quilting Flannel

by Bobbi Jo

Is there a difference in flannel and quilting flannel? I have a project that I am getting ready to start and it wants fat quarter flannels. I am a beginner and I am not sure. Thanks.

ANSWER

Yes, you can quilt with flannel. But it can be challenging. Flannel has a loose weave, so it stretches easily. You have to handle it gently or your fabric pieces will lose their shape.

I would stick with sewing square shapes, because they stretch less than shapes cut on the bias, like triangles.
