June 11, 2007 08:18 - Marie Osmond Launches New Fabric Line

First she wowed us with her fabulous doll collection, now she's designing fabric! Marie Osmond introduced her new "Heirloom Garden" collection at the Salt Lake City Quilt Market on March 14, 2007.

Marie credits her mother for this new inspiration. She says her mom loved to quilt because it kept her head, heart and hands busy. Marie designed her new collection around her mom's passion for quilting. Although her fabrics hint of the past, they also have a modern flair.

The "Heirloom Garden" collection has eight designs, with a choice of 24 colorways. I can't wait to start sewing my own "garden" masterpiece.

May 21, 2007 08:13 - I'm Back Again!

Hello, Everyone.

I haven't written in my blog for some time. That's because I've been working on my quilting site and my quilting store. I need to tie up a few loose ends, and then I'll launch my store.

This Wednesday, I'm going to the Regional Fabric Trade Show in Clare, Michigan. I'll get to preview new lines of fabric from major fabric manufacturers. I can't wait. Of course, you'll be able to purchase these beautiful fabrics in my new store. It's coming soon; hang in there!

In the meantime, I'm creating a new e-book. This time you'll learn intermediate quilting skills. You'll be able to purchase it within the next month or so. Stay tuned!

February 28, 2007 11:39 - Vintage Quilts and Fabrics

I've always made my quilts with modern fabrics. But recently, I caught Vintage Fabric Fever. One day, I was scanning the internet for new fabric ideas. I came across a reproduction fabric collection from RJR Fabric Company. It was called "Everything but the Kitchen Sink." And boy, did it take my breath away. These fabrics were bright and cheery, and most of them had a petite floral design.

Whenever I see a vintage quilt, I always wonder about the maker and her lifestyle. I'm just naturally curious about these things.

If you enjoy vintage quilts and fabrics as much as me, check out the Paducah Antique Quilt Show. If you'd rather view vintage quilts online, here's a few sites you might enjoy:

Buckboard Antique Quilts

Old Quilt Company

Cindy's Antique Quilts

Ebay Vintage Quilts

February 19, 2007 07:23 - Back to Quilting

Tax TimeI've spent the past week preparing tax returns for my family. My quilting had to take a back seat. But now I'm back, doing what I love the most: writing and quilting.

Spring is around the corner. I'm happy that we're almost done with this cold weather. There's nothing better than to go outside on a perfect summer day and quilt.

Egyptian BirdI have always wanted to design my own quilt pattern. I'm a huge fan of applique, and I'd like to make an Egyptian pictorial quilt. Think of all those rich colors....copper, turquoise, gold, black, adobe. Wow.

Right now, though, I'm photographing and writing descriptions for my quilting products. It isn't as easy as it looks. But I'm confident you'll like the results.
