Rod Pocket for Wall Hanging

Tulips in the Winter

I am making a stained glass wallhanging and need to make and attach a rod pocket onto the back of it. I don't know how long and how wide to make the pocket? It is 45" x 36"down.

Should I attach this pocket after I have quilted the wallhanging? How do I attach the pocket? I have put 60 hours into this wall hanging so far. I am also attaching a picture.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, cheers.

ANSWER

First of all, your quilt is absolutely beautiful. Nice work! Secondly, I would apply the pocket (quilt sleeve) after quilting but before you add the binding. It's a lot easier this way.

I've been swamped with questions, so I don't have time to create instructions for you. But I'll refer you to a site that has a great tutorial for making a quilt sleeve. You can find it here:

Have fun finishing your gorgeous quilt!
