Sarah's first Lone Star Quilt

by Sarah Zink
(Arlington, Texas USA)

Sarah's Sunburst Lone Star

Sarah's Sunburst Lone Star

Here's a quilt that I began to make as "practice". I wanted to learn how to make the Lone Star Quilt for my future daughter-in-law, so I thought I'd practice with some fat quarters I had.

This quilt took about three months, during which time I took it on two road trips from Texas to Indiana and Ohio, traveling almost 5,000 miles in 4 weeks. We had to go to Indiana for my father-in-law's funeral, during which time I worked almost non-stop on it.

The work was all done by hand - no machine stitching.

Just beautiful! And to think you did it all by hand is the amazing part to me! Kudos to you!
