Machine Brands

Well I have a Block Quilter's Choice, which is my workhorse machine. I also have a Janome 1100SE a pricey combo machine(embroidery and sewing)which I use primarily for embroidery.
The Janome is a good machine but very, very pricey.
The Baby Lock is what I usually use, while watching the Janome embroider. Both have "tables" that attach.
The tables are good but frankly big quilts are still a struggle to balance the weight while stitching.
The BL has a lot of built in helpful stitches but lacks in the manual.I found lots of good things that were not mentioned in the manual.
Janome has a system for calculating hooping and auto stippling the top of a quilt. You can purchase stippling or top stitching designs and using some built ins, make your own.
If you are willing to learn(and it is not so easy)you can learn to digitize designs to stipple on the top of your quilt. This requires pricey software and a computer.
Best bet for most folks is just to buy them.
Tried cheap singers, that did not even make one year for me!Make sure you can get easy repairs. It is rough having to drive along ways to get repairs.
