Using a Walking Foot

by Joy
(Machesney Park, IL)

I am new to quilting, but have a passion for it. Yesterday I bought a walking foot thinking it would prevent my fabric from pleating at the end. However, I have not a clue how to use it.

I have tried it, and it still pleats at the end. The stitches are very small, and I just don't feel it is working. Although I am sure it is operator error. Please help.

ANSWER

Instead of my trying to explain how to use the walking foot, I'd recommend you have someone SHOW you how to do it. Go to your local fabric or quilting store. They'll be more than happy to demonstrate it for you.

Believe me, it's much easier to learn visually than it is to read a paragraph of words. Thanks for your question.
