Strip Baby Quilt

How do you get the strips (21/2 & 2" width) to sew even and not curve as you sew them all together?

ANSWER

It's very important to handle your strips gently. Don't push or pull your strips as you sew. Let your feed dogs advance your strips through your machine. That's what they're made to do.

You can also attach a 1/4" foot to your machine. That way the feed dogs and the 1/4" foot can work together to produce straight and accurate seams.

When you press your strips, don't move your iron back and forth. That stretches your fabric out of shape. Instead, lower your iron onto your fabric, and hold it in place for a few seconds. Lift and repeat.

Crib Quilt Size

I make a lot of crib quilts and usually make them 44x60 including borders. That way you can use one length of 45" material for backing.
